General Rules & Regulations

  • A space of 7x7x7 feet  will be provided. The mechanism should fit completely in the space,
  • You can start the system manually but once the system is started , no human interference is allowed, till final step is reached.
  • The arrangement  should have a minimum of 10 steps and 7 energy conversions. ( eg: K.E. to P.E. and P.E. to K.E. will be considered as one energy conversion)
  • All steps should be inter rated  to each other.
  • Repetition of the same steps will be considered as a single step only.
  • Each team will be given three trials and the best of the three trials will be taken into account for the final score.
  •  220 volts of AC supply will be made available at the venue.
  • Any special requirements need to be informed well in advance. If possible it will be taken care of.
  • No explosive reactions are allowed, includes hazardous chemicals , fire etc. The contraption must be safe to the satisfaction of the judges.
  • All stationary items such as tape , glue , scissors etc. should be brought by the teams itself.
  • The teams must prepare a table / flowchart showing the activities , energy conversions taking place in their mechanism.
  • Maximum number of participants in a team is restricted to 4 . Members can from different colleges.
  • The registration fees are Rs. 150/- per team for Non SAE members and 100 for SAE members. (Atleast 2 members of the team should be SAE members for the reduced price )
  • The last date for registration is 17th Feb 2010.
  • All participants should report 1 hour before the event. The time will be put up on the website at a later date. They should also bring their college I Cards.
  • Judges decision is final and binding. Co ordinators reserve the right of changing or cancellation of any of the above before or during the event.
  • Participation certificates will be provided .

Rules

  • Car has to be brought by the participants themselves.
  • The car needs to travel a minimum distance of 2 feet and has to stop before 3 feet from the starting point.
  • Walls can not be used as stoppers. ( Wall implies any barrier whose height is greater than one third the diameter of the tyre. ) 
  • The whole car has to cross the 2 feet mark.
  • The teams must prepare a table / flowchart showing the activities , energy conversions taking place in their mechanism.

Judging Criteria

  • Number of steps involved to execute the task.
  • Number of energy inter conversions.
  • Robustness & sturdiness of the mechanism.
  • Innovativeness & Creativity
  • Build quality

Registration :

  • Registration for this event has begun. Please register your team at the earliest .
  • A registration fee of Rs. 150/- for all teams ( max members 4 )  is required to be sent either via draft or cheque. A confirmation email will be sent to you only after we receive your draft / cheque. The demand draft / cheque should be in the name of ' SAE INDIA COLLEGIATE BRANCH , MIT PUNE ' .
