We are proud to present Robotica for the first time. It is a part of Axlerate 2010. Axlerate is an intercollegiate competition organized by the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Maharashtra Institute of Technology (MIT), Pune. This technical event is in 13th year. It will be held on 19th Feb 2010.
Outline of the Contest
Robots complete the path towards goal is the main theme of this event. Target is to build road towards final position and place golden cube on the final goal position. Competing teams should be fast. This is the game of speed and control. So let the manually operated robots of two competing teams fight against each other in three minutes to achieve ‘Goal’ (Winning Condition).
Game Field Structure & Specifications
The complete game field is shown in Fig.
The game field consists of a square zone (4×4m).
Material for Golden Cube - High Density Foam (Thermocol) - Wt. 150 gm
Material for Block - High Density Foam (Thermocol) - Wt. 350 gm
Remaining field is made of wood with paint on it.
Game Procedure
Each game lasts for 3 min.
Only one manual machine will be used throughout the tournament.
Only manual operator will be allowed on the field during game.
Initially machine will be placed at start zone.
Task one is to complete path by using block/blocks.
Task two is to pick and place golden cube to the goal position via ramp.
The sequence of the task should be followed as stated (Task 1 → Task 2).
The Golden Cube can be picked only after at least one Block in place towards completion of path.
Golden Cube should not be touching the completed path at any point of time, while traveling on it. If it touches then retry will be given and machines should start from start zone again.
A team completing both tasks in least time will be declared as winner.
Retry will be allowed from start zone with judges’ permission.
Deciding Winner
The team completing the task within fastest time will be announced as winner.
If no team completes the task within time, the team closest to criteria of winner will be considered winner.
However judges’ decision will be final without any arguments.
Design & Manufacturing of Robots
Machine should fit in start zone.
Max weight=15 kg
You have to manage your own power source.
Max 24 v dc will be allowed.
Violations / Disqualifications
The use of explosives, fire and dangerous chemicals is prohibited.
Participating robots will be checked and tested, according to this rule book, on the day of the contest before starting the matches.
Passing this check test is a necessary condition to allow the robot to participate in the contest. In the other case, the robot will not participate in the contest.
Intentional blocking or destruction of opponent robot is not allowed.
